David Hockney (1937- ) is an English artist who contributed significantly to the pop art movement of the 1960s.

Considered to be one of the most important artists of the 20th century, Hockney is known for his range of artistic expression including painting, photograph and stage design.

Hockey is one of the few artists who has been asked to create a work of art by using a BMW as his canvas as part of the BMW Art Car Project. Other artists who have been involved in the project include Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons.
