Canadian model and actress Dorothy Stratten was Playboy Playmate of the Month in August 1979 and Playmate of the Year in 1980. She appeared in films such as Americathon (1979) and Skatetown, USA (1979).

In 1980 Stratten was tragically murdered by her estranged husband Paul Snider, who committed suicide the same day. Stratten's death has inspired two films, Star 80 starring Eric Roberts and Death of a Centerfold: The Dorothy Stratten Story starring Jamie Lee Curtis.

This stunning black velvet cocktail dress was owned by the model/actress and worn to a Playboy party not long before Stratten's death.

The dress, which features a single zip, one button behind the neck and a short polyester pleated trim, bears a label which reads 'For David Howard Climax Karen Okada'

This beautiful garment is in excellent condition.
