John Lennon Autographed Photograph
For Sale: £6,950.00
English musician John Lennon is most famous for being one of the founding members of The Beatles, who are generally considered to be one of the most important and influential bands in the history of popular music.
Lennon also had a successful solo career in music after The Beatles split up with the highly popular albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine.
Lennon also caused a stir with his political and peace activism, perhaps most famously his "Bed In for Peace" protests with Yoko Ono.
This is a glossy, colour photograph of John Lennon measuring 3½" x 3½". John Lennon has signed the photograph upside down in black ballpoint ink. There is some light skipping to the first name of the autograph, though this probably dates back to when Lennon signed the photograph.
The reverse of the photograph is stamp dated June 1974 by Kodak.
The photograph is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Frank Caiazzo, a Beatles expert. The letter reads:
"This signature also dates from 1974, shortly after the shot was taken. This is an excellent example from that time period, being very neat and very complete."
This photograph dates back to John Lennon's "Lost Weekend", a period of around eighteen months following Lennon and Yoko Ono's decision to split. Lennon spent much of this period with his companion May Pang in Los Angeles and New York. It was during this time that Lennon recorded his solo album "Walls and Bridges".
It is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain autographs from John Lennon from the mid-1970s. This is a beautiful example of the autograph of one of the greatest musicians in popular music history.
