Winston Churchill Autographed Typed Letter
For Sale: £4,950.00
Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) served as British Prime Minister between 1940 and 1945 and again from 1951-1955. He led the country to victory against Nazi Germany in World War II.
Churchill was the only British Prime Minister to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature and only the second person to be made an Honorary Citizen of the United States.
This typed letter from Churchill, dated October 21, 1946, reads:
"I write to thank you for your letter of September 27, and to let you know that I am very much interested in your CO2 butter machine, and in the various papers which you have sent me about it. At present in England no-one is allowed to make butter for sale, but only for personal use. All that I have heard, however, about your machine makes me believe that it would play a growing part in agricultural economy in proportion as normal conditions are restored."
Below this text, Churchill's autograph is featured clearly in black ink.
The letter is written on headed paper with the telephone number "Western 1617" appearing in the top left corner. In the top right corner is the address "28. Hyde Park Gate, London S.W.7", which was Churchill's home in his later life and is the house where he died.
The letter, which measures 7½" x 9¼", is in excellent condition with one small punch hole in the top left corner which does not affect the text.
A wonderful piece of Churchill memorabilia.
