Dali had his first exhibition when he was just 14.
And now he's to have his first exhibition in Shanghai, 20 years after his death in 1980.
The collection of 350 works demonstrates the artist's power and versatility.
It contains drawings, paintings and sculptures in bronze.
The three sections are: Dream and Fantasy, Lust and Women and Religion and Mythology.
Dali's largest painting, the spectacular five metre square Spellbound which was created in 1945 for Hitchcock's film of the same name, is typical of a dreamlike theme.
The film, based around a psychiatrist trying to help her amnesiac patient regain his memory, featured a number of terrifying eyes.
The sculptures include Triumphant Elephant (the famous elephant on stilts) and Profile of Time (one of Dali's melting clocks, this time done in bronze).
"Dali is undoubtedly one of the most significant painters of last century," said Benjamin Levi, a close personal friend of Dali's who has organised the exhibition. He has collected Dali's work for 40 years.
The exhibition, which runs until August 14, is proving very popular with 15,000 visitors a day.
Due to the demand organisers have decided that some of the works will be re-shown in a separate display in September.
It suggests that Chinese thirst for modern Western art is on the climb.
