Alan McGee music memorabilia collection auctions in Stockport, UK

Former record label boss Alan McGee, often referred to as the 'man who discovered Oasis', is returning to the auction block to sell more of his music memorabilia collection.

The music mogul changed music forever in the 1980s and 1990s with his record label Creation, home to a number of influential acts including Oasis, the Jesus and Mary Chain and Primal Scream. Since those heady and hedonistic days, McGee has turned his back on music.

John Squire's 'Don't Stop' painting is among the sale's highlights

The first auction of his music memorabilia collection in Stockport, UK, included rare pieces linked Creation's most famous bands, and even paintings by Stone Roses guitarist John Squire. Alan answered some of our questions about the sale at the time - which you read here.

One-hundred more items will appear in this second auction. Lots for sale will include records, photos and fanzines signed by bands who used to work with McGee's record labels Creation and Poptones. Expecially notable among the sale's highlights are a number of never-before-heard tracks by The Libertines.

When quizzed about the sale by UK newspaper The Manchester Evening News, McGee said: "I'm just clearing out all this rock and roll rubbish from my house. I've no real interest in the past and have sort of moved on from the music scene - I'm more interested in books and films now."

We have this Libertines autographed electric guitar for sale priced at £600 - Alan McGee's second auction will offer 'never before heard' tracks by the rock group

Expect plenty of collectors with a love of '90s rock to place bids in the sale. Creation Records' bands are no strangers to the auction markets. Song lyrics and concepts by Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher brought £4,140 at Christie's in 1998.

Fourteen years later, Noel Gallagher last night made his debut television solo performance at the Brit Awards. Many Oasis songs are now considered part of the 'classics' canon and, like his heroes The Beatles, Oasis memorabilia values should continue to grow in future years.
