There's a major gap in your collection.

You're a collector.

And you're serious about autographs.

You've picked up some superb items over the years.

World leaders. Pop culture icons. Some of the greatest names from history.

But there's one major signature I suspect you're missing.

An incredibly rare autograph from a man who hated signing his name.

How do I know?

Because you're not alone. It's a notable gap in most collections.

Which is ironic really.

Because it's written in the streets of almost every city in the world.

A genuine 20th century icon

Che Guevara is the definition of an icon.

He's become the symbol for political rebellion around the world.

You'll find his image on everything, from mugs and T-shirts to walls in war-torn countries. But you'll barely find his signature on anything at all.

Why? Two reasons:

1) He lived a short life

Guevara spent most of his career fighting guerilla warfare and hiding in jungles, mountains and safe-houses.

After the Cuban Revolution he spent just six years in the spotlight, as a political figure on the international stage.

And when he was killed in Bolivia in 1967, he was only 39 years old.

He simply didn't have time to leave that many signatures behind.

2) He almost never signed autographs

They were against his principles.

As a humble man of the people, he saw them as self-important.

So the main source of Che Guevara autographs are official certificates from his time in office, as part of the Revolutionary government.

(He hated signing these as well.)

The majority of them never made it out of Cuba.

And due to the humid climate, and hurricanes which devastated the island, most of these vintage documents are unlikely to have survived.

But here's one of the few that did.

And it's a beauty.

Signed by Che Guevara

It's an official Cuban government 'Honourable Mention' certificate.

Signed by Che Guevara as Finance Minister in March 1962.

It's a large and impressive document, measuring 14" by 11", with vintage graphics that capture the spirit of the revolution.

It's preserved in fine condition after more than 60 years.

And here's the unmistakable signature.

Three letters and the famous flourish beneath.

Guevara made his signature as tiny as possible to show his humility.

So this is the smallest autograph you'll ever own.

But also one of the finest.

The mark of a great collection

As a historic figure, Che Guevara's legacy casts a large shadow today.

The Cuban Revolution permanently changed the shape of global politics (and almost sparked a nuclear war).

It's impossible to tell the story of the 20th century without him.

And that's why his memorabilia is so sought-after by collectors.

But with so few genuine example out there, most are left empty-handed.

So I've always felt that owning a Guevara autograph is the sign of a dedicated collector. A mark of distinction in the hobby.

Because they're not easy to acquire. It takes patience to find the right piece.

But in my experience, the pride of ownership is well worth the wait.
