A Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione has sold at auction for €1.4m ($1.8m) to raise funds for the victims of last month's earthquakes in Italy.
The 599XX Evoluzione non-homologated race car, which had been estimated at €1.3m, was the star attraction at the Ferrari internet auction, which ended on June 20.

The 750 hp car, which can only be driven on the track, sold to a US buyer, who will receive the vehicle from F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa at next month's Italian grand prix.
The engine from the 2008 constructors' world title winning Ferrari F1 car made €80,000, while race helmets and suits donated by Massa and Alonso also sold, helping to achieve a grand figure of €1.8m, which will be donated to the victims' families.
Some 23 people are thought to have died and 20,000 left homeless following the tragedies, which struck the Emilia Romagna region in the north of the country, close to Ferrari's headquarters.
"A pole position result: I knew I could count on the big-heartedness of the Ferraristi but they've still managed to surprise me once again," commented Ferrari's president Luca di Montezemolo.
"I would like to thank all the clients, collectors and enthusiasts that did their bit. Their bids have sent out a message of warmth and solidarity to the people in our region affected by this tragedy."
The value of Ferrari classic cars rose by 2.67% in May compared with the previous month.
The Historic Auto Group's price index of leading classic cars also revealed that values are up 9.09% for the year, a real boon to investors in this most prestigious of classic car marques.
