Hermann Goring rifle auction
Goring's personal sporting rifle is to cross the block at Cowan's. Will it exceed its $50,000 top estimate?

The historic firearm is offered from the Richard Wray collection. Cowan's Jack Lewis comments: "This is a great chance for collectors to have an opportunity to purchase some fantastic rare military rifles of the world that have never been on the market.

"They have been in his collection for over 50 years and we are excited to bring these items to auction."

Following Germany's defeat in the second world war, Goring was convicted of crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg trials. He committed suicide in his cell the night before he was scheduled to be hanged.

Although some consider it profoundly distasteful to profit from the sale of Nazi and Nazi-related memorabilia, such items continue to prove popular at auction. 27 pieces of Hitler's formal silver cutlery sold for $24,500 at Cowan's Auctions in April 2009.

We currently have a raft of world war two memorabilia in stock, including this Mavis Batey signed Enigma Machine postcard.
