WW2 Captain's militaria could bring £50k

Antiques and army memorabilia from the home of a barrister from Warwick, UK, is expected to bring more than £50,000 at auction.

Campaign medals and miniatures awarded to Captain Meredith, and also his father, Thomas, will sell along with his officer's wash bowl, map pouch, bed, ammunition crate, rucksack and military cap.

Kevin "Bill" Meredith, who died last July aged 95, was a commissioned officer with the 7 Field Regiment Royal Artillery, before joining the 132 Welsh Field Regiment RA.

After the war, in 1954, he took over his father's partnership in an agency for steel companies and later became a magistrate, before retiring in 1968.

The auction of Meredith's home items will also include furniture, paintings and other militaria.

Thomas Meredith's items in the sale include memorabilia from his service in South Africa.

It will take place at Peter Wilson's saleroom in Nantwich, UK, on November 11 and 12.
