A collection of artefacts owned by aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh are to sell as a single lot in a sale at Heritage Auctions in Dallas on May 24.

Lindbergh became the first person to complete a non-stop flight from London to Paris in 1927, a feat that made him an international celebrity.

The collection includes a pair of Lindbergh's flying goggles

The lot includes a fascinating array of materials, including a set of flying goggles he is thought to have worn from 1931 onwards.

His personal pocket watch, engraved with the initials CAL, is also included alongside another watch which comes housed in the interior of a hollowed gold $20 piece.

This was presented to Lindbergh by the president of Honduras in 1928, in recognition of his trans-Atlantic flight.

The artefacts are expected to auction for $30,000-50,000.

We have an extraordinary piece of Lindbergh memorabilia available: a signed piece of the Spirit of St Louis - the very plane that launched Lindbergh into the record books.

Elsewhere in the sale, a series of handprints and palmistry readings pertaining to Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt are valued at $25,000-35,000.

Nellie Simmons Meier, a "scientific palmist", whose other clients included Walt Disney, Amelia Earhart and Booker T Washington, carried out the readings.
