The rare shot was captured by Southampton-based photograph agency Willstead.

This Titanic postcard will auction for Amnesty International

It shows the ship docked in Southampton and dates to 1912.

Postcards issued before the Titanic left port are referred to as pre-sinking, as they make no reference to the disaster.

Postcards sold after the tragedy would often be amended with a memorial message.

Volunteer Colin Richardson, who identified the card, told the Bristol Post: "The odds of finding it are just astonishing. That aspect of it did do my head in.

"I didn't realise how valuable it would be until I had gone online and saw one had sold for ?250 in slightly better condition than oursǪ

"It must have fallen out of a book but I have no idea which one.

"I have seen Titanic cards and probably come across them in other people's stocks, but in 12 to 15 years I never had one come into my possession. Especially this like the one we have got."

Bidding on the card already stands at ?99 ($130) ahead of the July 24 close date.

Funds raised from the sale will go to Amnesty International.
