A pair of Nike Mags inspired by Marty McFly's shoes from Back to the Future II (1989) have starred in a Hong Kong auction.

They sold for $104,000 at Dragon 8 on October 11, setting a new world record for a pair of trainers at auction.

The proceeds will go to the Michael J Fox Foundation, which works towards a cure for Parkinson's disease.

Nike produced just 89 of the first generation Mags earlier this year, although a consumer model will be coming out in the next couple of years.

Two more pairs will sell in London on October 14 and New York on November 12.
