Katharine Hepburn memorabilia auction features awards and artwork

Katharine Hepburn memorabilia will provide the key lots at Bonhams' Entertainment Memorabilia sale in Los Angeles on January 26.

The film star's 1990 Kennedy Center Honors, awarded for lifetime accomplishments in the performing arts, will arrive at the auction with a $12,000 high estimate, while her 1982 BAFTA award. won for On Golden Pond, has a $5,000 valuation.

A self-portrait of Hepburn in her lead role in 1969's Coco, her only stage musical appearance, is expected to make up to $1,200.

Hepburn (1907-2003), possibly best known for 1951's The African Queen, is hugely popular with collectors. A gown she wore in 1936's Mary of Scotland auctioned for $35,000 in 2011, while handwritten notes for her autobiography, Me, made $15,000 in 2006.

Dallas fans are also in for a treat, with a number of items connected with Larry Hagman, who played JR Ewing, appearing at the auction. Included among these are Hagman's certificates for his Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, each of which is valued at $700.  

Elsewhere in the sale, Oscar-winning actress Norma Shearer's gold vanity set carries a $12,000 valuation, while a dress worn by Piper Laurie in 1961's The Hustler has a $1,500 high estimate.
