The jacket Michael Jackson wore in the music video for his 1983 single Beat It is to draw global attention on December 18, when it sells as part of an online auction.

With a minimum bid of just $2,500, the jacket's final price will be boosted by the inscribed autograph below the collar in the back, which reads: "To Ari Love Michael Jackson 1988". If the $1.8m 2011 sale of his Thriller jacket is anything to go by, we can expect some outstanding bids.
One of several Beat It-style that the singer had designed by J Parks, Michael Jackson wore the garment not only in the music video but throughout his 1984 Victory Tour, which set a new world record at the time for the highest selling music tour in history.
He later gave the jacket to Epic Records' president Ron Alexenburg's son. Alexenburg was responsible for originally signing the Jackson 5 and therefore launching Michael Jackson into the limelight.
Another of the Beat It jackets, also signed by Jackson, sold at auction in 2010 for $132,000, giving a rough indication of the price we can expect to see. However, with the price of a Michael Jackson signed photograph up 100% since 2010, according to the PFC40 Autograph Index, we could see a rise in value.

Also featuring in the sale is the famous crystal-encrusted glove that the King of Pop wore at the 1984 American Music Awards. Selling with another $2,500 minimum bid, the glove can be compared with a similar example from Jackson's 1984 Victory Tour that sold for $192,000 at the same 2010 auction.
