Ringo Starr's acoustic guitar to feature at Heritage

A Bjarton 12-string acoustic guitar belonging to Ringo Starr could make more than $60,000 at Heritage Auctions.

Starr gave it to Klaus Voormann, a close friend of the band and the designer of the artwork for Revolver, during the 1970s.

Voormann became friends with the Beatles after meeting them in Hamburg during the early 1960s.

He went on to share a flat with George Harrison and Ringo Starr in London.

Voorman later gave the guitar to Uwe Blaschke, a leading Beatles expert whose collection is offered in the sale.

Heritage comments: "As well as having a rock royalty background, and impeccable provenance, this is simply a beautiful guitar."

Other lots from Blaschke's archive include a sign from John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1969 Montreal Bed-In for Peace.

It's expected to make in excess of $60,000.

The sign reads "Murray the K comes on Monday", a reference to radio host Murray "The K" Kaufman. It features signatures from both Ono and Lennon and was fixed to the wall of the room.

It appears in numerous photographs. Murray Kaufman was an early champion of the Beatles in America.

An original Beatles recording contract also features in the sale, with a valuation of up to $150,000.
