Apollo 11 and Star Trek icons guest at autograph show

Over 60 astronauts, including Apollo 11's moonwalkers Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, and Apollo 13's Jim Lovell will be attending a fundraiser in Kennedy Space Center in Florida for the benefit of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.

For space collectors, the event will include the sale of autographs and memorabilia, and possibly signings by the NASA heroes. Aldrin is likely to provide autographs, but the chances of Armstrong ending his 40-years-long refusal to sign are very slim.

The scarcity of Armstrong autographs makes him one of the rarest and most valued signatures on the market.

If you are hunting for an elusive and valuable Armstrong signature, Paul Fraser Collectibles currently has examples of both Apollo 11 moonwalkers' signatures available, both on a group photo and individual photos.

The show will look back at the Apollo programme and the lives of those who helped make it happen.

It will also look forward to NASA's plans for returning to the moon - and Buzz Aldrin will be likely to promote his enthusiasm from a future manned NASA mission to Mars.

Also appearing will be actors who played fictional space-travellers in the popular science fiction series Star Trek.

Michael Dorn (Lieutenant Worf), LeVar Burton (Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge) and Marina Sirtis (Counsellor Deanna Troi) will be in attendance.

Ticket packages range from $10 (just for access to the autograph seesions) to $550 (for a platinum ticket offering full privileges including dining, photos and simulator rides with the astronauts). The event takes place on November 7-8.
