A Captain Kirk Star Trek figurine flown on NASA's Orion EFT-1 mission in 2014 is to auction for charity.
Actor William Shatner, who played Kirk in the classic show, announced on Twitter over the weekend that the lot will appear in his Hollywood Charity Horse Auction.

The unmanned EFT-1 mission saw the Orion spacecraft complete two orbits of Earth.
The craft is designed for low earth orbit but would also carry the first humans to Mars, should interstellar flight become a priority for a future US government.
The Kirk figurine was one of a number of pieces chosen to be part of the cargo in order to raise awareness of the mission.
These also included an Iron Man figurine, a dinosaur fossil and a DeLorean model signed by Back to the Future actor Claudia Wells.
The Entertainment Industries Council (EIC), which provided the pieces for the flight, told collectSPACE in 2014: "A noted space enthusiast, William Shatner is thrilled to send Kirk back to space and support Orion, while inspiring future generations about space travel.”
The present lot is offered in its original protective packaging and includes a flight certificate from the head of Lockheed Martin, the company that built much of Orion, and a note from William Shatner.
Shatner will also sign the box for the winning bidder.
The sale, which closes on June 4, will raise funds for AHEAD With Horses. The charity teaches children with disabilities how to ride horses.
