Jackie Kennedy gold bracelets valued at $40,000

A pair of Van Cleef & Arpels gold bracelets Jackie Kennedy gave to her stepsister Nina Straight will cross the block at Heritage Auctions.

They're made from 18k gold and weigh 180g.

Jackie Kennedy had a pair just like this

Straight served as maid of honour at the Kennedys' wedding in 1953. Jackie would return the favour at Straight's wedding in 1974.

Straight explained in a recent interview with Heritage Auctions' Intelligent Collector Magazine: "They were a gift from Jackie for my wedding to Michael Straight in 1974.

"We were married at St. John's Cathedral in New York.

"Jackie gave them to me at the luncheon after the ceremony."

Kennedy actually had a pair of her own, which she wore often.

Straight said: "Jackie loved hers so much that she bought me a pair knowing I would enjoy them equally.

"I always viewed myself as Jackie's 'Sancho Panza' or sidekick. We had so much fun. Ours was a very close relationship."

The bracelets are expected to make around $40,000 in the Contemporary Designer Jewels Auction in LA on September 26.

We're expecting the connection with Jackie Kennedy to provoke strong bids.

We have an authentic strand of Jackie Kennedy's hair for sale.
