The wind-up Robot Lilliput was produced in Japan in 1939

It realised £2,280 ($3,213) in the March 15 in Thornaby, UK.

Lilliput was the first mass produced robot toy and is extremely hard to find today.

The collection realised a total of £46,000 ($64,842).

Auctioneer Andy Rees explained to Sky News: "Sci-fi, space and robots are very sought after.

"There are not many collections of this size and this is the biggest one we have handled in the last 20 years."
