The Andrew Diamond Plate is set to headline a sale of Important American Silver at Christie's New York on January 22 with a $250,000-350,000 estimate.
Made by Jeremiah Dunner of Boston in around 1680-1690, the lot is one of four key silver plates from 17th century America.

It displays unusual baroque foliate engraving interspersed with cherubs and is unusually large, with a diameter of 11.3 inches.
The plate was originally crafted for local merchant Andrew Diamond, who became rich shipping cod to the Caribbean to feed slaves working on sugar plantations.
A teapot made for famed banker and philanthropist Moses Michael Hays by legendary silversmith and patriot Paul Revere is valued at $200,000-300,000.
The lot dates to 1783 and was the first of 25 commissions Revere completed for Hays, who was his sole Jewish client.
They knew one another through their mutual connection to the Freemasons, serving as the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master of the Massachusetts chapter in 1791.
Revere is only known to have made six drum-form teapots, four of which are held in permanent institutional collections.
