A Chinese statue of the bodhisattva Guanyin has sold at Frank Marshall, a provincial UK auction house, on July 17.

The six-foot piece, which boasts 1,000 arms and 19 heads, sold for an impressive £151,200 ($231,372). Bidding started at just £20,000.
The statue is said to originate from the 17th century during China's Qing dynasty, which is renowned for its development of the arts. Made from bronze, it was originally brought to the UK by Mr PS McKay, a British diplomat stationed in Tibet in the 1960s.
It will now return home to its country of origin, having been bought by a group of Chinese collectors following a fierce bidding war.
