A Marc Lalique cactus table that made $22,200 was the highlight of Gallery 95 Auction's Anniversary sale that took place in South Carolina on September 22.

The table, created in the 1950s, is one of the most important and influential works by the French designer - son of the famous glassmaker Rene Lalique.
Following the death of his father, Marc took over the family business - designing objects and furniture from his preferred medium of crystal.
The cactus was initially built as part of an aquarium-themed window display. Following a successful reception, Lalique turned the piece into a table. It now features in a number of high profile museums.
