Ovchinnikov Skinner silver candlesticks
The Ovchinnikov candlesticks are decorated with representations of eastern European nobles

The candlesticks feature the mark of Ovchinnikov (1830-1888), a family of silversmiths based in Moscow who were active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

These particular pieces are thought to date to around 1893, and are among a significant body of work produced for the royal courts of Europe.

Both feature aristocratic figures, known as boyars, on the base, with an engraved stem rising to an single sconce.

A seven piece silver tea set made by Tiffany & Co made $22,800.

Produced between 1873 and 1885, the set is decorated with engravings of lobes and petals, with each piece engraved "A Wedding Gift to Sophia Augusta Brown From her Mother October 7th 1885".

Sophia was the granddaughter of Nicholas Brown Jr (1769-1841), the founder of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. The lot has passed via descent to the consignor.

A Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre vase also performed well in the sale, achieving $20,910 - up 161.3% on an estimate of $8,000.

The lot dates to 1920 and features depictions of imps and other mythical creatures.
