Chinese famille rose vase set for $800,000 Christie's auction

Details are now coming in for Christie's offerings at the upcoming Asian Art Week in New York, with an 18th century Chinese famille rose vase causing plenty of early excitement.

The Qianlong period (1736-1795) vase is expected to achieve up to $800,000 as part of the Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art sale on September 19 and 20, the last of four days of Christie's Asian art auctions that week.

Hugely rare, the 20-inch high turquoise vase features a large five-clawed red dragon and a smaller pink dragon.

An 18th century white jade rectangular pendant plaque will also star, arriving at the Lizzadro Collection Part II sale on September 19 with a $50,000 valuation.

Sotheby's will also be holding major Asian art sales in New York during the week, with the Julius Eberhardt collection of Chinese ritual bronzes crossing the block on September 17.
