Christie's fake Tucker court case underway in Australia

A court case is underway in Australia over claims a Bert Tucker painting sold through Christie's is fake.

Louise McBride, a barrister based in Sydney, bought the painting for around $80,000 in 2000 - but when she tried to resell it she was informed it was almost certainly counterfeit.

Despite this, the house refuses to provide a refund - despite refunding the Australia Club for buying a Tucker forgery that same year.

Australia has a significant problem with forgeries, with some estimates stating that they make up around 30% of the market.
