An auction bringing together Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Gregory Crewdson, Isabella Rossellini and six photographs by the late Dennis Hopper will be held in New York, this Thursday (June 24).
Phillips de Pury & Company has announced the highlights of its themed sale, entitled FILM, which promises to bring together the important, the iconic and inspirational in one saleroom.
Among the highlights are the inclusion of six photographic works by Dennis Hopper, as the late artist and actor continues to be celebrated on the collectors' markets following his death earlier this year.
Described by Phillips de Pury as "a lot of different things to a lot of different people", Hopper may have been most recognised as an actor; yet photographer, writer, director, painter and collagist, serious art collector and performance artist were also among the many strings on his bow.

His photographs include an image that, according to experts, "is a powerful enough image that many a photographer might have based an entire career on it."
The shot, entitled Double Standard, is taken from inside a car waiting in traffic lights near Santa Monica Boulevard. Shot with a wide-angle lens, the shot has a distinctly cinematic appeal while also invoking Ed Ruscha's gas station paintings (a confirmed influence on this work).
Taking a 'distinctly LA' setting and rendering in bleak black and white, hopes for Double Standard will be anything but bleak when it appears at Thursday's sale - copy number five from the run of 15 recently auctioned at Phillips De Pury for $47,500.
Double Standard (which you can see here) isn't appearing in the FILM sale, but collectors will be able acquire other stunning works from the artist's oeuvre. Among them is Selma Alabama (Full Employment) from 1965, a striking image of young African Americans priced $7,000-9,000.

While Hopper was an actor who moonlighted in art, the FILM auction also explore artists' movements into film - spearheaded by the conceptual Fluxus art movement back in the early-1960s, embraced by Andy Warhol and also evident in more recent examples including Banksy's Exit Through the Gift Shop and artist Sam Taylor Wood's John Lennon biopic, Nowhere Boy.
The sale will include various collisions between the worlds of art and film, with screen prints from Andy Warhol's experimental underground film, Chelsea Girls, and photographic works featuring the like of Angelina Jolie and Isabella Rossellini all going under the hammer.
Elsewhere, iconography is explored with the inclusion of such works as Ron English's Large Marilyn Red Peach, a synthetic polymer paint and silkscreen print depicting screen legend Marilyn Monroe with Mickey Mouse's face on her breasts (estimated at $10,000-15,000).

Meanwhile, a piece familiar to filmgoers is Herman Makkink's Rock Machine sculpture from 1969 - a provocative, phallic-shaped object which can be seen in one of the more notorious scenes of Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film A Clockwork Orange.
And fans of Andy Warhol can acquire a political-themed example of his work. His 1985 screenprint colours, Van Heusen (Ronald Reagan), depicting the eponymous US president in a shirt advertisement. Signed and numbered - 119 of 190 - the work will auction priced $18,000-22,000.
Phillips de Pury's sale promises to be an unmissable event, with plenty of opportunities of entry-level investors and fans of art and film memorabilia alike.
