Edvard Munch's Two Human Beings to make $798,000?

Edvard Munch's Two Human Beings, the Lonely Ones is valued at £400,000-600,000 ($531,800-797,700) ahead of a sale of prints at Sotheby's.

The work was inspired by a painting Munch produced in the late 1800s and shows a male and female figure standing on the shore at Asgardstrand.

Munch moved to the small Norwegian seaside town in 1897.

Curator Dieter Buchhart wrote in his preamble to the Edvard Munch: Love, Death, Loneliness (2015) exhibition at Vienna's Albertina: "Though the man and the woman are presented close to each other, the distance between them seems to be insurmountable, and they both remain alone, caught in paralysis."

The print was created using three different woodcuts. Munch produced various blocks for different versions of this image, meaning the colours and textures vary widely.

The record for any print of the work is £986,500 ($1.3m).

Other highlights include a print of Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe, which is valued at £70,000-100,000 ($106,371-132,964).

The lot is one of an edition of 250 screen printed at Factory Studios in 1967 and displays the highly desirable pink colour scheme.

Marilyn Monroe is perhaps Warhol's most iconic subject and his prints always sell well when they appear at auction.

Another Warhol edition, a block of four prints of the star dating to 1962, made $38.2m at Christie's in 2015.

The auction will take place in London on September 27.
