Frydlender's $40,000 Smoking Sinai stars in New York photography sale

If you're look for a hot collectibles market in the second half of 2010, then look no further than photography.

The markets for collectible photographs have really started to move over the last 12 months, and the latest major auction house to get in on the act is Phillips de Pury of New York.

Collectors are invited to consign their rare, historic and valuable photographs to Phillips de Pury's auction. The sale itself is scheduled to take place on October 8.

Among the sale's striking highlights is an image by Barry Frydlender: Smoking Sinai, dated to 2004. It will appear in the auction with an estimate of $30,000-40,000.
