Furniture by Modernist pioneer Jacques Adnet auctions in Paris

Artist Jacques Adnet (1900-1984) was a firm believer in Modernism, and a pioneer of the movement alongside Mallet-Stevens, Herbst, Sognot and Chareau.

This was evident in his furniture and other artworks, which were characterised by minimal forms and use of the simplest industrial materials.

Adnet's furniture was devoid of embellishment, stripped down to its bare functionality to respect the practical purpose of the object above all.

Adnet's pioneering works celebrated functionality above all else

Among the many works reflecting his taste for modernism is this sleek desktop, auctioning in at Aguttes, Paris, on October 6.

It will appear in Aguttes' sale with an estimate of €80,000-100,000.
