Furniture from 'prominent estates and collections' sells at Great Gatsby

If you're looking to furnish your home, then why not consider antique pieces which could potentially be even more valuable in the future?

An upcoming sale at Great Gatsby's Auction Gallery on September 10 promises to promote the benefits of buying antique furniture when it takes place in Atlanta, Georgia.

"This sale will feature property from prominent estates and collections from around the world," said Marie Kowalik, president of Great Gatsby's.

"An online preview with live online bidding will be available beginning August 25," he added.

This 19th century French Renaissance Revival oak cabinet could sell for $32,000

Furniture pieces of note will include a massive 19th century carved oak buffet, attributed to Alexander Roux and believed to have been made for the 1853 Crystal Palace Exposition (125 inches tall by 105 inches wide).

Also auctioning is a monumental mid-19th century French carved oak buffet (145 inches tall by 114 inches wide) and an early 19th century Irish Chippendale mahogany console.

Other highlights include a mid-19th century George III-style Cuban mahogany double-door linen press (84 inches tall by 51 ½ inches wide) and a monumental 19th century carved oak fireplace mantle, with mirrored overmantle (130 inches tall by 70 inches wide).

Furniture from the era of George III is especially coveted among collectors.

Examples presently for sale elsewhere on the markets include this important George III period mahogany and satinwood cabinet designed by John Linnell, circa 1775.

This Linnell cabinet was previously held at Castle Howard, one of the grandest private residences in Britain which will be familiar to you if you ever watched the 2008 film Brideshead Revisited.

And, with the Great Gatsby sale promising antique furniture pieces from "prominent estates" you could have an opportunity to own other pieces of this calibre on September 10.

In addition to furniture, the Great Gatsby sale also promises an "abundance" of artwork with expected star lots including a mid-20th century mixed media work by Xie Zhi An, titled and dated en verso Early Spring in the Commune (1964).
