Georg Jensen's sterling silver partial tea service auctions for $10,000

Stefek's display cases were stuffed full of sparkling jewels and shining silver at its September 22 Fabulous Furniture, Silver and Fine Jewellery auction.

The auction featured fine jewellery including a stunning GIA certified 9.87-carat diamond, and several gorgeous pieces of Georg Jensen silver.

Jensen lived in the Netherlands from 1866 to 1935.

He trained as a sculptor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, but soon became a silversmith. Jensen is today known for his artistry in design and his fine craftsmanship.

He left behind a remarkable collection of beautifully crafted Art Nouveau creations.

Georg Jensen's sterling silver partial tea service

Among them was this Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Partial Tea Service, sold For $10,000.

With applied floral and foliate finial and ebony handles on scrolled feet, the set comprises a tea pot, tea kettle on stand, and covered sugar.

Each is marked under the base and numbered "262".

Despite a few dents including to the top of the burner and a bent wick, the set was still snapped up by a lucky buyer for five figures - confirming Jenson's ongoing legacy.
