Julia Margaret Cameron album expected to see $562,000 at Sotheby's

Sotheby's has announced that, on December 10 in London, a previously unknown album of photographs by Julia Margaret Cameron will go under the hammer.

The photo album will sell as part of the leading auction house's English Literature, History, Children's Book and Illustrations sale, valued at £250,000-350,000 ($401,355-561,869).

Containing 32 large-scale portraits of leading Victorian celebrities, the album was specially compiled for Cameron's godson and nephew, pre-Raphaelite artist Valentine Cameron Prinsep. It was completely unheard of until earlier this year, and is one of only 11 albums compiled by the artist.

Another of Cameron's albums is currently under a British export bar. Potential buyers now have until October 8 to raise the £121,250 ($194,647) before it is shipped abroad. The price is the same as that realised by the album at Sotheby's in December 2012.

Export bars placed on collectibles by England's Arts Council have hit the headlines recently, as US singer Kelly Clarkson was prevented from taking a ring owned by British author Jane Austen back to her home country.
