Goncharova is among the world's most valuable female artists.

Her auction record stands at $10.8m, set for a painting titled Les Fleurs (1912) at Christie's in 2008.

Among the highlights of the London sale is Le Princesse Cygne, a study for a panel in conductor Serge Koussevitzky's home in Paris.

Koussevitzky commissioned Goncharova to decorate his mansion during the early 1920s.

It's valued at £60,000-80,000 ($92,273-123,031).

The auction house explains the collection is of huge importance.

"Together they constitute the largest and most comprehensive collection of Goncharova's work ever to come to auction, including her ground-breaking set and costume designs for Diaghilev's Ballet Russes in the 1910s, alongside fashion designs, studies for well-known paintings and sketches dating right up until the 1940s," it says.

"The vast majority of the works have never been exhibited in public before; they will be unveiled in London for the first time on 27 November 2015 ahead of the sale."

All of the works in the archive come from the collection of the Lefebvre-Foinet family, which acted as a patron of the arts for generations in Paris.
