New York's Throckmorton Fine Art will hold an exhibition displaying 45 seldom-seen vintage portraits of celebrated individuals, entitled "FAME".

The exhibition runs from July 11 to September 14 and includes photographs of royalty, political leaders and actors, as well as artists, musicians and writers.

It aims to present a selection that is rarely seen by the public.

Executive director Kraige Block commented: "In our summer exhibition we have made an effort to exhibit images that are not well known and some have, in fact, never been printed or publicly shown before, in a bid to add something unexpected to what is otherwise familiar."

Included is an 1858 image of Abraham Lincoln by Matthew Brady, a 1930s portrait of Marlene Dietrich by Cecil Beaton and Ray Schatt's poignant portrait of James Dean.

"We are delighted that other celebrated individuals making an 'appearance' at our show include the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Theodore Roosevelt, D.H. Lawrence, Pablo Neruda, Pablo Picasso, Marilyn Monroe, the Beatles, the Dalai Lama, and Jean Michel Basquiat, with his cat," added Block.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a huge selection of celebrity-signed items for sale, including James Dean's high school yearbook.
