When Tony Curtis passed away last year, aged 85, the world lost another actor from Hollywood's golden age - and the onus fell on collectors to preserve his legacy.
They had a chance at Julien's auction in Beverly Hills, California, on Saturday (September 17). In total, a collection of items owned by the film legend sold for $1m.

The sale comprised more than just movie memorabilia. Unusual lots included artwork by Curtis himself, a Some Like it Hot Shoe by Andy Warhol gifted to the actor, and even Curtis's personal credit cards.
According to reports, big sales included a vase crafted by Pablo Picasso. It sold for $20,625.
Julien's auction was initiated by Curtis's sixth wife, Jill Curtis, and reportedly caused uproar from other members of the Curtis family.
However, the sale wasn't without its good intentions.
Some proceeds from the auction benefitted Shiloh Horse Rescue, a charitable organisation founded by Jill and Tony Curtis that rescues abused, neglected and slaughter-bound horses of all types.
And many collectors went home with pieces of Hollywood history that are sure to grow in value in future years, as Curtis's legacies continues to live on like his co-stars' including Marilyn Monroe.
Curtis's hits include Some Like It Hot, in which he acted with Monroe and Jack Lemmon. It has been called the funniest film in history by the American Film Institute.
