Toulouse-Lautrec's Salon de Cent poster to make $60,000?

The lot will lead an auction of posters in New York on August 5.

The figure in the poster is based on a woman Lautrec met on a boat

The auction house explains: "The beautiful subject is a young woman Lautrec encountered during the summer of 1895, when he was travelling by boat from Le Havre to Bordeaux to visit his mother.

"She was staying in cabin 54. Despite the fact that she was on her way to Africa to meet her husband, Lautrec became so smitten with her beauty that he stayed on the boat, intent on following her all the way to Dakar.

"It took Lautrec's travelling companion, Maurice Guibert, to pull the artist off the boat, but he was unable to do so until the ship reached Lisbon."

Alphonse Mucha's Times of the Day set into a folding screen is estimated to bring $30,000-40,000.

The lot consists of four art nouveau illustrations titled Morning Awakening, Daytime Dash, Evening Reverie and Nightly Rest.

Another complete set of the Times of the Day sold for £34,850 ($56,143) at Christie's in 2012.
