Another US President appearing in Freeman's sale is Abraham Lincoln, with a number of signed documents going under the hammer.

Among the Lincoln autographs is a manuscript dated to May 11, 1864, appointing Manning Ferguson Force to the role of Brigadier General during the American Civil War.

Abraham's signature is clearly scribed
on the document

The contract bears a paper seal and is bright and clear, with minor creasing and occasional minor spotting alongside clear signatures by Lincoln and Edwin M Stanton, his Secretary of War.

Force (1824-1899) became known as the commander for the 20th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Union Army, and was later a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his gallantry in action.

This fine and historic document of power and decoration during the American Civil War will go under the hammer at Freeman's auction with an estimate of $8,000-12,000.

Original architectural watercolour drawings by Frank Furness and early-19th century American watercolours relating to the Seminole War will also feature in the sale.

Meanwhile, Paul Fraser Collectibles currently holds another historic and valuable Abraham Lincoln autograph. It is currently for sale to collectors as part of our American Presidents Portfolio of exceptionally rare documents and signatures.
