David Bailey's '60s photos swing into Bonhams

Beginning on March 7 and continuing until April 7, Bonhams will be hosting a selling exhibition of David Bailey's iconic photographs of the 1960s.

Fifty years on from the decade that changed cultural history, the exhibition aims to celebrate a period of spontaneity and decadence, with collectibles capturing the glamour and hedonism of the era.

Famous faces in the expo will include Mick Jagger, Michael Caine, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and the beautiful Jean Shrimpton.

Selected for exhibition by Bailey himself, the historic portraits will be on sale at Bonhams' New Bond Street galleries in signed and authenticated limited editions.

Today, David Bailey is regarded as one of the most important swinging '60s photographers.

His subjects included some of the most influential cultural figures of the past few decades: Yves Saint Laurent, Yoko Ono, David Lean, Francis Bacon and Salvador Dali, plus many more.

Bailey's famous 1969 nude portrait of exiled film director Roman Polanski and his late wife Sharon Tate sold at Christie's in December, last year, for $11,250.
