Steve Jobs Newsweek signature makes $50,500

A rare Steve Jobs signature on a copy of Newsweek was among the biggest stars of RR Auction’s October 26 memorabilia sale.

Very few Jobs signatures have ever come to auction, as the Apple CEO was almost pathologically opposed to signing.

Steve Jobs Newsweek

Jobs has written 'I love manufacturing' along with his signature

This piece achieved $50,587, a figure we believe to be a record for a Steve Jobs autograph.

There has been growing demand for Jobs memorabilia following his death in 2011.

He’s considered an icon in the world of business and technology, hence why a buyer paid $12,800 for his humble Seiko Chariot watch at Julien’s last year.

This signed magazine was consigned by an attendee at a talk Jobs gave on his new NeXt computer in Cambridge, Massachusetts in October 1988.

She explains: “Steve walked off stage, came down into the front row and plopped himself on a table next to me. I froze. I showed him a pile of magazines and asked him to pick one to autograph for me.

“He hesitated and said 'I don't do autographs' at which point I stepped closer, locked eyes and said 'then write something from your heart.' He smiled from ear to ear, picked the Newsweek and jotted the words: ‘I love manufacturing’ and then signed it!"
