US Golfing wonder stars at Heritage

With Bobby Jones, the US found a true American golf hero.

During his legendary career, Robert T Jones won an astonishing 13 majors in eight years, between 1923-1930.

By the time of his retirement, amazingly aged just 28, Jones had accomplished the then unheard-of achievement of winning all four majors in one year.

According to Heritage Auction Galleries, this signed Bobby Jones item is as fine as any other piece of memorabilia related to the golf hero ever to be offered at public sale.

The 8 x 10 photograph bears the autograph of the legend himself in bold and flowing penmanship.

Despite slight wear on the photo's edges, Bobby Jones is primed to be a big star at Heritage.

Other items in Heritage Auction Galleries' Sunday sale include a signed baseball bearing two of the sport's most desirable autographs, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and "the Finest 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Baseball on Earth."
