Beano #1 first edition expected to make in excess of $6,500

A rare first edition copy of issue #1 of the Beano is expected to exceed £4,000 ($6,704) in an eBay auction run by comic specialist Phil Comics

The sale is due to close on April 20.

Beano first copy
The Beano was first published in 1938

The much loved British comic was first released on July 30, 1938 and is still in print to this day.

Of the 442,963 copies of the first issue that were sold only around 25 are known to have survived - in varying levels of preservation.

The example offered is graded "good", although it is marred by a tear to the top margin.

We have this autographed drawing of Fred Flintstone by Bill Hanna for sale.
