EH Shepard Winnie the Pooh illustration to sell on December 9

An EH Shepard illustration of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh playing Poohsticks is to cross the block at Sotheby's on December 9 with a £100,000-150,000 ($158,953-238,429) estimate.

The drawing first appears in The House at Pooh Corner (1928), the second in the much-loved series of stories by AA Milne.

Its accompanied by text that reads: "For a long time they looked at the river beneath them, saying nothing, and the river said nothing too, for it felt very quiet and peaceful on this summer afternoon."

Previous illustrations from the series have sold well, with a piece titled Us Two selling for £45,000 ($67,107) at Sotheby's in June last year.
