Houdini's hand-corrected manuscript selling at $33,000 with RR Auction

The hand-corrected, typed manuscript for Harry Houdini's A Magician Among the Spirits has taken the lead in RR Auction's latest online sale, which closes on July 17.

Houdini continues his public feud with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

The manuscript, which is boldly signed across the front page, is currently selling for $33,230.

A Magician Among the Spirits (1924) was the culmination of Houdini's work in the 1920s, when he set about debunking spiritualists, psychics and mediums by exposing their methods.

It was this book that cost Houdini his friendship with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - one of the most prominent spiritualists of the day - and triggered a public feud between the two.

The manuscript sees Houdini asking, "Would Shirlock [sic] Holmes have proceeded that way?" and adding, "So says our friend Sir Arthur Conan Doyle".

Paul Fraser Collectibles is currently offering a signed photograph of Harry Houdini, as well as a collection of correspondence from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, including a handwritten list that names many prominent individuals at the time.
