Re-imagined first edition covers to sell for gallery

First edition books featuring covers re-imagined by various artists are set to cross the block at Sotheby’s on December 12.

Raymond Pettibon Jeeves

The money raised from the sale will benefit London's House of Illustration

The collection, titled First Editions: Re-Covered, will sell to raise funds for the House of Illustration – a gallery founded in London by Roald Dahl collaborator Quentin Blake.

The star of the show is legendary punk artist Raymond Pettibon’s take on My Main Jeeves by PG Wodehouse.

It displays a Penguin style cover in the artist’s inimitable style and is expected to make around £4,000-6,000 ($5,252-7,879).

Blake’s take on Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame is also likely to prove popular, with an estimate of around £3,000-5,000 ($4,000-6,672).
