Apple-1 computer to sell for $500,000+ through Auction Team Breker

Auction Team Breker, the German auction house that set the world record for an Apple-1 computer in May 2013, will offer another original example on November 16 in Cologne.

Will the presence of its original box launch this example of the Apple-1 to a new auction record?

This example could break the $668,000 record, as it is one of the first 50 ever sold and is the only known example that comes complete with its original white box.

It holds an estimate of $300,000-500,000, and is being billed as "Straight from Steve Jobs' Bedroom", complete with a photograph of a stack of boxes in the technology magnate's childhood home.

The unit is number 46 of the first 50 machines that were sold to Apple's first client, the Byte Shop. It is one of just 46 examples known to exist today, with even fewer - possibly as little as six - remaining in working order.

Just 200 examples of the groundbreaking computer (the first from Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak's iconic company) were ever built. The computer has gained quite a following among collectors, as the Apple brand continues to garner huge customer loyalty.

Prior to the May 2013 sale, the previous record for an Apple-1 was set at $636,323 at Auction Team Breker in November 2012. Christie's held a sale dedicated to collectible Apple products in July, demonstrating the strong demand in the market.
