A fantastic selection of Barnum and Bailey circus posters will be highlighted by a spectacular billboard-sized example at Link Auction Galleries on September 13 in St Louis.

The self-proclaimed "Greatest Show on Earth" has toured the US since the 1800s and its memorabilia is widely collected. The poster, dating to 1890, is estimated at $25,000-35,000.
According to the auction house, it is rare to find such a beautiful billboard in such fine condition. Comprised of 12 one-sheet posters, it declares the circus as "The only show with 7 open dens of trained wild beasts", with each of the "dens" pictured.
The poster is especially rare due to poster designer Strobridge adding its name to one of the dens, something that is never seen on its work. The auction house added: "One has a feeling that the people at Strobridge enjoyed designing this multi-sheet poster".
The remaining Barnum and Bailey posters in the sale are valued at $2,000-3,000 each.
