A personalised Rolex watch belonging to Dwight D Eisenhower is to lead RR Auction's online sale of presidential memorabilia from September 11-17 with a minimum bid of $100,000.
The company presented the gold Oyster Perpetual Date timepiece to the president in the early 1950s in recognition for his accomplishments during the second world war.

The back is inscribed with his initials "DDE" and "12-19-1950", the date that he was appointed Supreme Allied Commander of Europe.
He wore it regularly during his time in office (1953-1961) and it can be seen on his wrist in photographs from the era - including a 1952 cover for LIFE magazine.
Eisenhower later passed the watch on to sergeant John Moaney, his valet and close personal friend. The auction house describes it as "without question, the most historically significant Rolex ever offered for sale"
Franklin D Roosevelt's walnut cane carries a minimum bid of $10,000.
FDR was paralysed by a bout of polio in the early 1920s but never used his wheelchair in public.
He used this example during the early 1940s before being given it to his valet, who writes in a letter of provenance: "This particular cane was used a great deal by the President until he cracked the ivory top".
RR Auction commented: "The extensive photographic evidence available of Franklin D. Roosevelt clearly using this cane throughout his presidency establishes its importance as a relic of American history���as an item often used by FDR, this particular cane is of paramount historical significance."
