Elvis memorabilia auction set to take Wiltshire, UK by storm

"You never get surprises living in Devizes", goes the song, but that's all about to change as a major Elvis memorabilia auction arrives in the Wiltshire, UK town.

A microphone stand from the American Sound Studios in Memphis, where Elvis Presley recorded several hits, will star in the May 19 sale.

Elvis shoes
Elvis' 1970s shoes have a £3,500-4,500 estimate

Valued at £3,000-5,000, the Atlas style gooseneck mic stand could well have been employed by the King himself when recording his later hits, including In The Ghetto and Suspicious Minds.

It was previously bought in 1987 by Jimmy Velvet for his World Famous Elvis Presley Museum Collection.

A pair of 1970s casual burgundy shoes worn by Elvis will also star, with a £3,500-4,500 valuation. The size 12s were previously on display at the Elvis-A-Rama Museum.

The museum's corresponding label, which accompanies the shoes in the lot, remarked: "This pair of leather shoes were made in Italy with the buckled strap over the top were typical of what he wore during the 1970's with his flared bell-bottom pants".

The auction will also feature a phone once used by Elvis, valued at £1,200-£1,800, and a holster that belonged to the King.

We're anticipating a strong performance from the sale, considering the upward trend of the Elvis memorabilia sector.

Elvis signed photos rose in value from £750 ($1,160) in 2000 to £3,250 ($5,020) last year, at a rate of 14.26% pa, according to the PFC40 Autograph Index.

An Elvis signed photograph is currently being auctioned by PFC Auctions, as is this guitar owned by the star.

We will bring you all the results from the sale, so check back in soon.
