What is thought to be one of the largest private collections of Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings football quarterback, is heading for the auction block.

Seller Jim Kraft started collecting high-end Favre memorabilia back in 1993.

"You just can't buy this stuff at any store other than signed jerseys and helmets, but I've got hand-painted balls and just one-of-a-kind items," Kraft told the US news source ABC.

Kraft, of De Pere, Wisconsin, US, has 75 rare Favre items which will be posted on eBay at a starting bid of $95,000.

He says according to a national sports memorabilia company he's consulted with, his collection's value is much higher, "Probably a couple hundred thousand."

Kraft is selling his collection because he needs cash to start a second business.

With Favre's recently controversial move from the Green Bay Packers to rivals the Vikings, Kraft hopes that having Favre back in the spotlight will help him cash in on his collection.

"He's an icon no matter where you go," said Kraft of his hero.

"Every record he broke is here in either a ball or helmet and everything has a letter of authenticity."

Kraft says if he doesn't receive his minimum asking price, he'll be happy to keep his collection.
